When their forbidden love is discovered, they meet a tragic end through murder. The sculpture depicts the moment when reading the Love of Lancelot for Guinevere draws them to their first kiss.\r\nA plaster model of this sculpture was showcased at the 1851 Great Exhibition. This marble version (scanned) was commissioned by William Gladstone (1809-98), who later became Prime Minister.\r\nThis object is part of "Scan The World".
