My goal was to build a fully functional model of Panzertriebwagen nr 16 for my Marklin MRR. It features NEM coupler pockets and white/red light changeover with LEDs. It's based on the classic metal BR81 chassis, which is the closest resemblance to the original engine under the armored dome, the WR550D. Some compromises were made for my MRR, most notably near the lights. They are not freestanding but integrated in the turret chassis. The coupler rods have been lengthened by 1mm to navigate curves better. I recommend using R2 (420mm radius) curves only; some steps are in the way for proper R1 operation. Most parts were printed in PLA with a 0.1 Z-res setting. Buffers, NEM coupler holders, and light guides were printed in ABS, the latter in transparent ABS. The coupler was printed in ABS for better elasticity (better centring), and the buffers were printed in ABS for better rigidity. I recommend using self-tapping screws with collars: 2.6mmx8 (4x) for mounting the roof on the body and holding the NEM-coupler, and 2mmx6 (6x) for mounting the bogies and coupler bars between center and outer pieces. The design requires various materials, including wheelsets, electronics components, and a Marklin BR81 locomotive. The electronics include LEDs, resistors, and PCB prototype boards. Useful tools include drills of sizes: 0.5mm, 1mm, 1.2mm, 1.8mm, and 2.7mm to clean the holes for screws and other parts.
