The Panzerjäger I, a German tank destroyer, was the first to serve during WWII. It utilized a Czech Skoda 47mm gun mounted on a revamped Panzer I Ausf. B chassis. The primary aim was to counter heavy French tanks like the Char B1, beyond the capabilities of the then-used 37 mm PaK 36 anti-tank gun. This extended the Panzer I's usable life, with over 200 conversions made in 1940-41. They saw action in France, North Africa and on the Eastern Front.
