Panzer Dice Tower
thingiverse
This is a highly detailed Strumtiger Dice Tower, or Panzersturmmörser model. It works exceptionally well for 17mm dice and if you just want to use it for 12mm dice (standard wargame dice), print it at 80% size. V2 has a high engine deck wall so you need to be fairly close to see the numbers on the rolled dice clearly. V3 has a low deck and you can view the results from the other side of the gaming table, although it looks a bit odd with the low engine wall. This model is based on the excellent 1:200 Strumtiger of m_bergman. I have also included a Roof Plate and Engine Deck. Why did I do that? Well, when you don't want to print a dice tower but just a Strumtiger model, put the Roof Plate and Engine Deck on. The first image shows a 3/4 print with these in place and a full size print with these just to the right. Now the superstructure of the dice tower does not require supports to print. However, the belly plate, main gun, and the tracks do, so make sure to support block the interior of the dice tower, i.e., where the dice roll. If you don't, you will find your longish print filled to the brim with supports that are very difficult to remove. When I did that by mistake, I just put on the Roof Plate and Engine Deck and said I meant to print it as a model, not a dice tower. I now have about 15 Strumtiger models printed in this way. The six Strumtiger image shows some of these and other working prototypes. Developed on the M3D promega. March 14, 2019 - The Engine Deck Plate was a really tight fit, so I trimmed it a little on two sides. March 30, 2019 - Revised the dice path so it prints much cleaner with no supports. You still need supports on other areas of the model. I also made some minor changes to the engine deck and roof plates. June 9, 2019 - Added a low deck version so you can view the results from across the table.
