Panther at Rameau Palace, Lille, France

This slightly oversized granite sculpture captures a lone male panther in dynamic pose; it was meticulously crafted by Maurice Prost in 1948. Prost is renowned for his captivating sculptures of panthers, creating works that have now become iconic in the art deco movement. Notably, he typically casts his sculptures in bronze or sculpts them from marble, but this striking piece, as well as the other sculpture outside the Rameau Palace - a female panther cradling her cubs - (also available on Scan The World), is crafted from granite. Scan the World is a non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory, aiming to create a comprehensive digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the world that everyone can access for free. This community-driven project, open source in nature, invites anyone with interesting items nearby who would like to contribute to email stw@myminifactory.com to learn how they can join the effort.
