Panneau de La Mothe-Saint-Héray (série C)
sketchfab
This panel is part of a decorative wooden wainscoting ordered for the chapel at La-Mothe-Saint-Héray Castle (Deux-Sèvres, France). The complete program consists of five large historical panels. Each one, organized in a grid, groups twelve or sixteen paintings inspired by the Bible. The entire set, painted with oil on oak wood, is created by an artist likely from Flemish origin. The paintings, marked by Reformed religion, are inspired by copperplate engravings by Peter van der Borcht, published in Antwerp around 1585. A collection of panels can be found on the Sketchfab collection, accessible via the link provided. Inventory Number: 842.1.2(A-F) from the collections at the Bernard d'Agesci Museum in Niort - CAN (79 - France).
