All of the 4.3" PanelDue enclosures provided by Think3DPrint3D are surprisingly wide, giving them an unbalanced appearance due to the absence of a rotary control knob. Furthermore, I wasn't thrilled about having to position the control board off to one side on my display. To resolve this issue, I created a direct 40pin connector from the display to the controller, allowing me to mount the controller at the rear of the display. If you happen to have an old retro 40pin ribbon connection from a CD-ROM or IDE HDD, it will work just as well since all that's required is a straight-through connection for each pin. Given my lack of concern about frequent access to the erase/reset switches and the USB input for flashing new firmware, I didn't drill any holes into the enclosure for these components. Removing the back plate takes only 20 seconds, providing easy access when needed. The enclosure can be mounted anywhere on the frame that suits your needs - I prefer it central, suspended from the top rail between the tool control arms - as it doesn't obstruct anything and looks tidy in my opinion. The enclosure's rear is secured with two self-tapping screws.
