Panel Mount Box

Panel Mount Box

I'm creating this panel mount in FreeCAD 3D to hold an LED light control on my G-Star Dual 3D printer (which is essentially a MakerBot 2X open source version). The bottom layer is fully solid and features a 40mm hole at the back where wires can pass through, providing easy access for connections. To prevent screws from easily pulling out, I've given the panel dual skinned material in the back area so it has more structural support when drilling. The front opening measures 59mm wide by 86mm high while the main panel surface comes to 90mm x 90mm with a smooth slant of 45 degrees on top of that for additional visual appeal. I've made sure that the sides and framing edges are thick enough to directly hold wood screws which will be useful when attaching control panels onto this base plate in no time. Please feel free to make adjustments as you see fit since it was designed with flexibility in mind and is open source so don't hesitate to get creative! P.S. The attached instructions for a smooth printing process mention using two skins along with 10% infill, I started with an initial temperature of 230 F (which gave me great results with PLA on my heated bed at a cozy setting of 60F) in order to obtain the desired glossy finish without having to worry about any warping or unwanted distortion.
