A beautifully crafted gypsum wall panel relief showcases a captivating scene of a woman leading four camels, their majestic forms expertly rendered. Her long-sleeved fringed garment and matching cloak, characteristic of Syrian women's attire, frame her elegant physique. Notably, she wears triple bracelets on both wrists, adding an air of sophistication to her overall appearance. In her right hand, she grasps a stunning vase with a distinctive pointed base and round handle, exuding refinement and poise. Her left hand is raised in a gesture of submission or despair, its significance open to interpretation. The artists' depiction of the camels, however, is not without flaws. The hind legs of the last two animals are inaccurately drawn as single legs, a minor but noticeable error. Despite this, the grouping and drawing of the animals are masterfully executed, elevating this relief above others featuring camels. This captivating scene represents the spoils of war, specifically those captured during Tiglath-Pileser III's campaigns against Arab enemies. The artwork serves as a testament to the king's military prowess and cultural achievements. Dating back to 728 BC, this remarkable relief was discovered in the Central Palace at Nimrud, once the seat of power for Tiglath-Pileser III. Measuring 99 centimetres in height and 162 centimetres in length, it is a testament to the artistic skills of the ancient Assyrian civilization.
