Sculptural Relief on Gypsum Wall Panel Unveils Majestic Human-Headed Winged Bull at Sennacherib's Palace A majestic human-headed winged bull sculpture takes center stage on a gypsum wall panel relief from the South West Palace, specifically found in Court VI (also known as Nineveh). The dramatic scene depicts the bull seated majestically on a sledge, while three officers proudly stand atop its back. One of these dignitaries holds aloft a trumpet, symbolizing triumph and ceremony. Meanwhile, workers busily scurry about, carrying essential tools such as saws, hatchets, picks, and shovels to facilitate the construction process. In addition to their efforts on land, three sturdy coracles (small boats) traverse the river, transporting even more materials that will aid in this grand endeavor. Interestingly, these vessels pass by a group of fishermen who gently float on inflated animal skins. The relief dates back to 700 BC - 692 BC, during which time it was part of Sennacherib's palace. Measuring an impressive 210.82 centimeters in height and 284.48 centimeters in width, this remarkable piece is the result of meticulous craftsmanship. A total of 113 high-quality photographs were taken with Sony A6000 cameras before being meticulously processed using Agisoft Photoscan software to create a stunning digital replica.
