UPDATE 4: Improved body shape features a wider disc OD and new TPU printable seal. UPDATE 3: Feedback indicates plastic springs are not ideal due to relaxation and creep over time. PET, ABS, or Alloy910 may offer better performance but still exhibit some drift. A conical metal spring can be used as an alternative, with adjustments needed for fitment. UPDATE 2: Cover_gen2 now has increased space between flat spring and outlet area to prevent blockage due to thick rubber use. UPDATE 1: Gen2 released, requiring no additional hardware and easy adjustment. Ensure proper thread match by testing printing small sections of cover and base. A square piece of rubber fits into the hole for sealing purposes. Team PANDA [Zurich, Switzerland]: We propose a new adjustable PEEP valve that attaches to the 30 mm Ambu Bag connector. This is NOT intended for medical use, but might be useful for ventilator prototypes without a PEEP valve. WARNING/DISCLAIMER: Tested on our PANDA ventilator test bed, but not compared to medical PEEP valves. Use at your own risk and liability. TESTS: Adjusted PEEP pressure in the range of 5 - 20 cmH2O with slight leaking at lower pressures but accurate levels overall. CONSTRUCTION: Uses a triple-helix flat spring that applies force to the sealing disc, with pretensioning adjusted by turning the head. A piece of rubber enhances performance and cleanliness is essential for optimal function. PRINTING: Tolerances must match between pieces, so adjust in Cura if necessary. Print the base first, then cover and spring, ensuring proper fitment. MATERIAL: PLA works fine but ABS/PET/Alloy910/Nylon are recommended for minimal loss of tension. Experimental data is appreciated. https://youtu.be/lfqMNqKA_II
