Panasonic N2QAYB00057210302A Remote Control Battery Cover ==================================================== This is a battery cover for the Panasonic remote control, designed to replace the original part that broke when dropped on the floor. The motivation behind this design was to learn FreeCad and provide an affordable alternative to the £50 manufacturer's part in the UK. The STL file of the cover was flipped 180 degrees before slicing and printing. Status (Important) ----------------- This is a functional prototype, but it's not yet finished. It clicked into place without falling out or breaking the clip, which is a significant improvement over previous attempts. However, buying a new battery cover or remote control might be a better option for most users. To improve the design, download the FreeCad file and make your own modifications. The author of this post is a novice user and would appreciate any improvements you can suggest. The photographs are of a draft-printed component with 0.2mm z-step and higher speeds, resulting in a slightly rough finish. The marking on the bottom serves as a reminder to replace the tape on the bed. To Do ----- The most urgent modifications required for this design are evident from the photographs: * The cover is approximately 1mm too short. * The triangular section used to make the cut at the clip end of the cover doesn't align with the actual remote control, which has a curved shape in multiple dimensions and can be challenging for novice users to work with. * The clip could be thinner, especially if printed in a more flexible material than PLA, so it won't crack when pulled back. History -------- 22nd May 2017: Freecad file edits made the cover 1.2mm longer (only in the freecad file), and adjusted the clips to make them slightly larger for a more positive closure. However, the STL file still contains the old version of these modifications.
