A compact assembly consists of a metallic element that serves as an electrode to deposit layers on both surfaces of the resistive film and, simultaneously, as one surface where current leads can be soldered or attached using other attachment techniques. In one aspect of a design, each contact terminal includes four individual layers deposited from an electrolyte that facilitates adherence and connection to wires with sufficient current-carrying capacity.
