Pan and Tilt HDMIPI Mount with cross bracing

thingiverse

Having finally gotten around to using my HDMIPI for its intended purpose, I was able to make my Mendel more standalone. It features a Pi model B+ 2 inside, running a fully functional raspbian desktop with Pronterface, Slic3r, and Octoprint on board. I had previously backed the HDMIPI kickstarter project, which made it all possible. The design includes additional x-carriage bracing, courtesy of Lanthan's remake of an excellent Thingiverse design (15606). This modification provides extra support to the Mendel frame, although it does require some care when installing the cross braces, which are constructed from M6 stock threaded bar. Two extruders can still be accommodated on the top rail, but Tricolor users will need to find an alternative location for their third extruder. There are two versions of the left-hand side brace available, one of which doubles as a PCB mount when using a Melzi board.
