The Palia Monument was crafted from gleaming white Rușchița marble by skilled sculptor Nicolae Adam. "Palia", a renowned publication dating back to 1581-1582, is credited with pioneering the first Romanian translation of the Old Testament's five sacred books. "Palia de la Orastie" has become an iconic local brand. Unveiled on September 28, 1974, the Palia monument commemorates 750 years of rich history for the township. Sculptor Nicolae Adam envisioned a symbolic representation of printing a book through three interconnected ideas. The first side showcases scribes pondering the importance of developing the Romanian language via printing. The second side highlights Serban Coresi and Marian, responsible for winepressing the book into existence. A proud man of the people also features prominently, celebrating the value of literature. The monument's third side represents the widespread use of books as a tool to promote the Romanian language among the masses, fostering education and learning. Notably, a child is depicted alongside scholars and common folk, foreshadowing future generations that would further develop the Romanian language on these lands. Measuring 6 meters tall, with a figurative section standing at 3 meters, the Palia Monument stands as a testament to Adam's craftsmanship, carved from pristine white Ruschita marble.
