Palette+ Scroll Wheel Mount for Robo R2
thingiverse
I designed a custom scroll wheel mount for my Robo R2, ensuring it would sit upright without any angle when mounted on the device. The original design lacked stability, so I created this modification in SolidWorks to provide a secure and vertical mounting solution. To facilitate modifications or improvements, I included the SolidWorks file with the design. Initially, I considered making the mount rotatable, but ultimately decided it wasn't necessary. The recommended size for the mount is 1.6" x 1.6" square. When importing the design into Simplify3D or any other slicer software, users will need to scale it by a factor of 100,000 due to how SolidWorks exports files. For printing, I used the following settings in Simplify3D: PLA filament with an extrusion multiplier of 0.97, a nozzle size of 0.40 mm, and a layer height of 0.10 mm. The print speed was set at 50 mm/s, with six solid layers on top and bottom, three outline perimeter shells, and 50% triangular infill. Users can likely get away with 20% infill for a lighter print. I used 3M VHB double-sided tape to secure the mount on the R2, which is incredibly thin yet extremely strong. This design might also work on the Robo C2, but I haven't seen one up close to confirm its compatibility.
