The Colosseum-inspired Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana stands tall as a beacon of Fascist architecture. Masterfully inspired by the enduring grandeur of the 2,000-year-old elliptical amphitheater known as the Colosseum, this structure was designed to be a grand tribute to Benito Mussolini's vision of Roman architectural majesty. The Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, alternatively referred to as the Palazzo della Civiltà del Lavoro or simply the Square Colosseum, is an icon of Fascist architecture. The building was conceptualized in 1937 specifically to host the Mostra della Civiltà Romana during the 1942 World Fair by the visionary Italian architects Giovanni Guerrini, Ernesto Bruno La Padula and Mario Romano. It resides within the Esposizione Universale Roma district, commonly referred to as EUR, where its monumental presence echoes throughout the area. Symbolizing the monumental scale of this region, it exemplifies grandeur. The palace is elegantly clad in travertine marble, a feature characteristic of buildings within the EUR.The structure takes on a rectangular form, anchored firmly on a square base with six distinct levels ascending from a sturdy podium. Its colossal presence demands attention: the ground-level base covers 8,400 square meters, while its massive volume amounts to an impressive 205,000 cubic meters and towers high at a striking 68 meters. The building's commanding appearance and iconic status have rendered it a coveted backdrop for various cinematic productions, including The Last Man on Earth, Hudson Hawk, Titus, and Equilibrium. From October 22, 2015, this remarkable structure has been transformed into the headquarters of the renowned fashion brand Fendi.
