Since it was Veganuary and the odds of me sticking to that diet were next to nothing, I stumbled upon a set of wargame rules called 'Palaeo Diet - Eat or Be Eaten' (from Ganesha Games) which could be downloaded as a pdf from the Wargame Vault. This ruleset promised a moral boost, and I decided to use it as my dietary advantage. When finding new wargame rules without the necessary figures in hand, I usually resort to crafting simple flat minis on the cheap. That's exactly what I did here. The animals are made up of three or four pieces each, with one piece representing the left and right sides, including legs and ears, while another middle piece carries the tail, providing some width to the animal in a flat way. You can get an idea by looking at the deer picture attached. Currently, I have the following animals attached: woolly mammoth, deer, wild goats, wolves (with an alternative mid-section for variety), and sabre-tooth tiger - with more on the way. The hunters consist of one piece each, representing individuals holding spears, bows, fire!, and clubs as per the rules. I've also included a fire marker and some rulers for Small, Medium, and Large distances. You can easily find some D6s to complete your setup.
