The Palace of Soviets stands out as one of history's most iconic unfinished architectural endeavors. This colossal structure would have dominated the skyline as the world's largest and tallest building, embodying the triumph of socialism and serving as a beacon for a new nation and Moscow itself.\nThe 316-meter edifice was to be topped by a 100-meter statue of Lenin, an imposing monument that would have commanded respect. With a total area spanning 11 hectares, the palace's weight would have been an astonishing one and a half million tons. Prior to World War II, construction had progressed significantly, with the foundation for the high-altitude portion laid and steel framing underway. However, by June 22, 1941, materials like concrete, granite, and steel were diverted to entirely different purposes.
