Painters Tripod (Triangle)
thingiverse
This is a simple painter's pyramid or triangle used for drying boards or projects after painting and staining. I frequently encounter situations where I've painted a project or stained a piece of wood, and I need to place it on an edge to dry without it sticking. I began nailing a series of finishing nails into scrap wood to create tripods for my pieces to rest on, and I thought there must be a better way. These are simple 1" triangular pyramids similar to those found online that have printed flawlessly with no support required. Each piece takes about 10 minutes to print on our Taz 5 with no infill. This method makes the pyramids somewhat weak, but I'm generally not working with anything too heavy - so, these work perfectly for me. I've started using these as a quick verification print for my 3D printers as well. It's fast enough and has a moderate level of complexity for testing extrusion temperatures and retraction settings.
