Painter's Pole Outdoor Radome/Enclosure for RTL-SDR
prusaprinters
I wanted to get my SDR dongle away from the computer and outside the RV for cleaner reception. This will allow up to 30' of separation with a standard male - male USB cable. You might be able to find longer, but I'm not sure what the standard allows. 30 feet or 10 meters is enough to go out a window and up over the roof line of a standard home. I use a telescoping painter's pole with a standard thread that is designed for light maintenance like cleaning, painting and changing hard to reach bulbs in auditorium ceilings. It also accommodates a common USB bulkhead connecter I picked up off Amazon. You can find one with a different configuration with a little bit of searching for ‘USB Bulkhead connector’ The hole should fit, but might take some modification. I also ‘paint’ my outdoor prints with whatever decent Clear UV spray coat I can find. Krylon will do. I have PLA prints holding up for 5+ years now outdoors. I expect even better performance from the new PLA+ filaments. Obviously, you'll want to print in white if you don't want to bake your dongle.
