Painter Pole Male Threads
thingiverse
This item serves as a replacement for the male end of a standard painter's pole. Typically, threads employed in these items are also utilized on broom, duster, and mop handles. It fits into standard 13/16" (21mm) ID tubing used for such purposes, at least with the tools I have available. Given that it must be printed in an end-on orientation and considering that layering of 3D printing may fail under shear loads, I created mine with a 3/8" hole running down its center to accommodate a length of wood dowel for added strength. White glue was used for the application. Any adhesive will suffice, but white glue functions as a lubricant during installation, eliminating the need to strike it repeatedly with a hammer to achieve complete insertion. An extended painter pole topped with a paint roller presents a considerable lever, so the wood reinforcement provides sufficient resistance to prevent bending that could cause layer separation. I also included an STL file for a solid version and a STEP file for the hollow variant.
