Let paint accumulate at the bottom of a jar filled with water. Drag your dirty brush across the lines to create a streaked effect. Over time, the paint will build up without requiring you to dip your brush into it each time, and avoid disturbing the water too much for best results. This method is functional rather than visually appealing. It requires supports. Any layer height is acceptable, but choose one higher than usual for added stability. I've successfully used this technique with my Dremel 3D40 printer using PLA filament.
