Paint spin-mixer drill attachments
prusaprinters
These are two paint mixing drill attachments that will use the power of your drill to mix spray can paints/primers, as well as model paints. They are inspired by one of Adam Savage's favorite tools:The spray-can mixer model can accept spray cans up to 70mm in diameter. The notch around the upper perimeter of the model can accomodate elastic bands, that will squeeze the sides of the mixer together, ensuring a better grip. For an even firmer grip, place some sticky back hook & loop squares inside the mixer that will grip the sides of the spray can:The small paints mixer can accomodate a vessel diameter of up to 40mm, and also has a perimeter notch for elasic bands or rubber o-ring compression. This is generally a comfortable size for Citadel paints and Vallejo 60ml paint containers, however for smaller vessels such as 17mm paints, a scrap piece of fabric can be used as a shim to stop the paint from hitting the sides of the mixer. Both versions of the mixer require a M8 bolt of 50mm length or greater, plus a nut to secure the bolt to the model. Any length of bolt shorter than 50mm presents a greater risk of the mixer coming loose from the drill during operation.
