Paint Bottle Holders (for Hand Made Modern 2 fl oz Acrylics from Target)
thingiverse
I reside within walking distance of a Target store and have found their craft acrylics suitable enough for model painting and weathering. The 2 fl oz bottles are a good size but do not fit any standard paint holder I've found here for Testors, Vallejo, or other brands. Most designs are heavy and require excessive filament and time just to organize and store. I decided to design something that could be printed with no supports required, using minimal waste while looking good and allowing for different applications. The result is this innovative design. Printing the pieces on their "back," I can get away without any supports needed. The Z-shape provides adequate support at the bottom and top 1/3 of the bottle, and the cut-away design lets me see most of the bottle (and quickly identify what color each bottle is). This design offers several benefits, including stacking/stepping once filled so I can hide lesser-used colors or backup supplies while main colors remain easily visible. The large back wall also allows for easy drilling or modification pre-slice to add mounting holes at any spacing needed. Files are uploaded for 1-6 bottles. For five or fewer bottles, the pieces can be printed on beds with 220mm or less in x or y (designed this way due to popular Ender 3 printers). Longer runs could be made by merging a few files together but note that warping of the first few layers becomes a major concern. I've also uploaded an STL of the holder without any cutaway for scaling and using with other paint bottles, and an STL of the paint bottles themselves for modeling different holders or spacing as desired. Enjoy and happy printing!
