PAHMA 6-19912 - Iwefaa (Outer Coffin)

This casket belonged to a man named Iwefaa, whose name is inscribed in the middle of the incantations written in the two columns on the front. This casket is likely the outer casket for PAHMA 6-19928 based on the similarity of the owner's name, unusual attire, and the paleography of the inscription. Both caskets were purchased by George Reisner from the antiquities market for Phoebe A Hearst. However, stylistically, they are very similar to a set of caskets known to have come from the site of Akhmim, which was excavated in the 1880s by Gaston Maspero, and which has been heavily plundered for the antiquities market during this decade. For more on Iwefaa and his caskets, see https://3dcoffins.berkeley.edu/coffins/pahma-6-19912 The model and images used to build it are courtesy of the Phoebe A Hearst Museum of Anthropology, where Amenirdis' caskets remain today.
