Padlocked sliding door latch mount
thingiverse
The sliding door leading into my bedroom has a hollow core, making it simple for the latch attached with 4 screws to be easily removed since the screws aren't anchored into anything more substantial than 1/8 inch of hardboard and the rest is empty space. To secure the latch, I drilled out 5/16 inch holes through the door where the screws were located and inserted a metal rod from the opposite side. This allows me to securely anchor it to something solid, giving me better peace of mind when I sleep at night. Before installing the latch, I also painted it to give it a metallic appearance from the outside.
