Paddle Shifter

Paddle Shifter

thingiverse

This is a paddle shifter design that I created for my SAE Formula team. We aimed to replace the shifting buttons on the steering wheel with something more intuitive, allowing the driver to shift gears without taking their eyes off the road. My design utilizes two magnets for detente force and a lever-actuated limit switch for signal transfer, along with various McMaster hardware components. Currently, the magnets used are N35, but if you prefer a harder detente, there are similar magnets available on the linked website, ranging up to N50 in strength. The paddle shifter was printed using ABS plastic, but PLA could also be a suitable option and would likely hold up just as well. ***The Neon Yellow Prints are custom versions designed for our Formula Car. The uploaded files can be attached to any surface or modified with mounting holes for general use.*** Hardware Components: (1) https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/e-switch/MS085R104F045V1A/MS085R104F045V1A-ND/1628104 (2) https://www.magnet4sale.com/n35-1-2x1-4-neodymium-rare-earth-disc-magnet/ McMaster Hardware: (2) 91255A020 (1) 92735A615 (2) 90480A004
