Paddle boat with spring motor
thingiverse
I've adapted an excellent spring engine made by GZUMWALT (Wheelie), found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:452248, to create this paddles boat. I made some changes to achieve a better fit for the water environment; The spring thickness was reduced (-0.4mm) to have a less powerful engine, which isn't necessary on a boat. This also allowed an increased autonomy and it's easier to recharge. The thickness of the gears was increased, as the original version caused precision problems, likely due to my printer (which has a 0.5 mm nozzle). Note: The actual length of the boat is 220mm, and printing it on my OrdBot was a challenging task. In a future update, I plan to reduce this dimension, taking into account that the weight of the motor is significant. Floatation tests were very successful, and my daughter really enjoyed the boat! Update July 14, 2015: A new reduced hull (length 195mm) was added and tested successfully.
