During World War II, Packard Motor Cars secured a license from Rolls-Royce to manufacture its renowned V-12 engine, the Merlin 66, in America for use in US warplanes. The resulting product was the Packard V-1650, one of the most iconic and widely used aircraft engines in US aircraft history. This is the third subassembly: 610136 Magneto Drive and Fittings. It serves as the geared drive shaft for the two magnetos mounted to the rear and on either side of the crankcase. I'm experiencing difficulties with it. Firstly, 615730 necessitated a helical gear, prompting me to utilize SolidWorks' toolbox to create the gear. Unfortunately, it turned out oversized compared to the dimensions specified in the part drawing. I wish I had a better grasp on designing them myself. Secondly, the nut 603756 lacked a drawing, which is often the case when a Rolls-Royce component has been replaced with an Army/Navy standard part. In this instance, the AN number wasn't specified, so until I determine the shaft size, it's likely the incorrect part. previous posts: Packard V-1650-7 Starter Engaging Mechanism Packard V-1650-7 Engine Starter Motor
