Pablo Escobar was a notorious Colombian narco-terrorist who rose to prominence as the leader of the Medellín Cartel in the 1970s and 1980s. Born on December 1, 1949, in Rionegro, Colombia, Pablo grew up in a poor but loving family with his parents Abel de Jesús Dari Escobar and Hermilda Gaviria. Pablo's early life was marked by poverty and hardship, however, he was a brilliant student who excelled academically. He attended the Javeriana University in Bogotá where he studied economics and became involved in politics with the Liberal Party.
