P3steel Y carriage bearing clamp (igus)
thingiverse
This is a bearing mount designed to replace the U clips on Prusia or metal U clamps on P3Steel. The Problem The primary issue with the U clamps is that they fail to distribute the clamping load evenly across the entire bearing housing. This results in the outside of the bearing housing compressing and becoming oval-shaped, which causes the bearings to stick rather than slide smoothly along the linear rods. The use of igus bushing-type bearings exacerbates this issue due to their plastic composition and softer nature compared to metal counterparts. The Solution To resolve this issue, the clamping load must be extended across the entire bearing housing. Printing the part requires ABS PLA or preferably Nylon for its robust layer strength and ability to flex slightly.
