P3Steel frame + tabletop spool holder
thingiverse
For 4,628 bearings, 4 M5x25mm screws and 4 M5 nuts are required. Optional: One or two M3x6mm (or longer) screws plus M3 nuts for non-slim frame versions. The design is only compatible with 3mm P3Steel frames. December 29th, 2016 updates include a revised tabletop washer in the internal spool holder and a separate STL file for the tabletop version. On December 23rd, 2016, a new STL file was added specifically for the tabletop version. A simple, P3Steel-style tabletop spool holder was also included as an added bonus on December 21st, 2016. This design has become universal for P3Steel machines. For those who want to test the clamp of the slim frame version without printing the whole part, a separate STL file was uploaded on December 20th, 2016. The previous version was removed and replaced with what is considered the final design on December 19th, 2016. Four washers are required. Two frame parts and one or two clamps, depending on choice, are also needed. The design contains two frame designs: a slim version that attaches to the P3Steel frame without additional screws but requires force during installation, and a regular version that requires printing the frame and clamp, drilling through the hole with a 3mm drill, and using an M3 screw plus nut for assembly. What frame parts are chosen is up to the user. Previous pre-release notes advise not to print this design unless comfortable with failure. This design is still in progress. The clamping mechanism only works with elastic filaments. Brittle or hard materials may break when trying to attach the holders to the P3Steel frame. Printing the left and right sides of the frame, along with four washers, using 628 bearings, M5x25mm screws, and M5 nuts for assembly is an option for those willing to take a risk. Print settings include: printer - Taront3rD, rafts - no, supports - no, resolution - 200 microns, infill - 25%. Post-printing requires 5mm and 3mm drills to drill out the holes.
