P3Steel flexible USB LED frame mount / holder

thingiverse

This is a P3Steel frame mount/holder for an affordable flexible USB LED light.\nI connected it directly to the +5V output of the ATX PSU I'm using to power my P3Steel, so the LED light turns on every time the printer starts printing, but adding a separate On/Off switch would be possible.\nOpenSCAD sources are included, making this part remixable to suit your preferences.\n\n \n \n Instructions\nHere it's shown printed in PLA with 40% infill; two small parts need to be printed. The frame mount part requires a single M3 16mm screw, which replaces the existing M3 12mm screw in the P3Steel frame. The cover part uses two small nylon ties to firmly attach the USB connector shell.\nAssembly: First, fit and screw the frame mount part to the P3Steel frame. Next, slide the cover part over the frame mount part, locking the whole assembly securely into place. Note that the parts are designed to be a snug fit, and that's deliberate!\nWARNING! Never attempt to power the USB LED light from the Arduino's +5V! The Arduino regulator can't supply the approximately 300mA required by the USB LED light and would likely fail immediately. I'm powering the LED light directly from the +5V line of the ATX PSU I'm using to power my 3D printer. If your 3D printer PSU lacks a 5V output, consider using an affordable "wall charger" style USB +5V power supply.
