P3Steel Bulldog XL E3Dv6 bracket
thingiverse
I'm working on two variants for http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:341091. The first one features a parallel mount with the opening enlarged to fit an E3Dv6 hotend. However, after switching from a Bulldog to a Bulldog XL, I encountered numerous clearance issues while parallel mounting the extruder. Therefore, I created the simplest and most rigid perpendicular mount possible. Both variants require an X-carriage with four 4mm bolt holes like http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:586636, which is what I use myself. As other designs point out, a perpendicular mount can lead to sagging problems if your X-axis isn't truly rigid. Hopefully, these will save you some time in the long run. The fan setup used is based on http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:780379, although it can be a bit of a pain to access the zip tie. Printer Settings: Brand: RepRap Model: P3Steel variant Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 50% Notes: ColorFabb XT or Formfutura EasyFil PLA seem to work well, but low-temperature PLAs tend to warp on these parts. If your bridging is good enough, you might not need supports at all.
