WARNINGS *** NON-COMMERCIAL LICENSE *** *** May 20 2021 *** Uploaded a stronger version of the container. May just print it in tpu so it absorbs shock. This version of all the parts should be close to final *** May 7 2021 *** Larger version catches brass nicely, nothing bouncing forward UNTIL. The front of the catcher part split at the front screw. This is because of the layer lines. I enlarged it AND made it 2 part which you can press or glue (recommended) together. This should be like plywood where you now have layer lines in 2 directions. Cleaned up the older files. *** March 30 2021 *** Added a larger version to try to solve the brass bouncing off. Have not tested it. *** March 8 2021 *** I tried it at the range. About 30% of my rounds were going forward after bouncing on something. I believe the top of the catcher. I will either need to raise it or enlarge it or both. *** ORIGINAL **** 1) I have not tried this at a range. Only with snap caps 2) I have concerns about: a. Will it stand up to real ammo - it should? It's not on the slide, so not as much shock b. Will hot brass melt the plastic? I don't know. I might line the container with aluminum tape c. Will the weight of the brass pull the whole thing down? Maybe. I would empty it out after 1-2 mags. OK. I plan on reloading soon. I need to start collecting brass. I shoot mostly at indoor ranges and my knees not being what they used to be I don't want to be bending down looking for my brass all over the place. This is fairly lightweight and the container is easy to slide on and off. Also the QR makes it easy to remove. Also you can use a sock instead of the container. I have a p320 xcompact. I don't know what else it will fit on, but I DID add SOME adjustability fore and aft. It might fit on other p320s, it might even fit on a glock or other pistol. I don't own a glock so I don't know. The rear wall of the catcher HAS to be just slightly behind the rear face of the slide/breech when the slide is FULLY LOCKED BACK. Else the brass may just bounce off and go left or forward. I spent much time collecting my snap caps off the floor when this happened with the prototypes. You may need to rack the slide using your optic or front serrations. I used carbon PLA at 0.2 layer 60-70% infill for most parts. The container about 20% infill. I have versions of the container made of PETG and even TPU. All seems to print well, not sure which is best for real use. Supports everywhere at about 10-12 deg threshold. Hardware: m3x35? for the lever m3x12 (2) m3 locknut (2)
