The Passive/Voluntary Opening Terminal Device is designed for use with cans at barbecues, parties, etc. It is a single-part construct that can be printed within four hours using 28 grams of ABS filament. The device's self-supporting design eliminates the need for additional support materials or structures during the 3D printing process. The Turnigy Fabrikator 3D Printer (FDM), with a nozzle diameter of 0.4mm and filament diameter of 1.75mm, was used for prototyping. 11.2 oz (330 ml) cans were initially utilized in the creation of this device due to limited availability of 12 oz (355 ml) cans in the UK; however, subsequent versions have incorporated 12 oz (355 ml) cans successfully.
