P.S. Rebate (Rabbet) Plane - customizable
thingiverse
This adjustable rebate (rabbet) plane can take advantage of a standard chisel as the cutting iron.\nThe purpose of these types of planes is to cut a slot along the edge of a board.\nThe design is inspired by Paul Sellers' handmade wooden rebate plane. Instructions for this can be found on his YouTube channel, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTuOtmlRhAI Print Settings Rafts: Don't matter. Supports: Don't matter. Resolution: 0.30mm. Infill: 27%. Notes: 3 shells These settings appear to offer a fair balance between speed (the print still takes several hours), plastic usage, and strength. Custom Section I found designing and making this adjustable rebate plane challenging but enjoyable, yet after experiencing how long it took to print and the significant amount of plastic used, I think that following Paul Sellers' approach and building one out of wood would be a far more practical solution. Conclusion There are still some problems with this design, mostly due to the width of the chisel+wedge gap being too small to accommodate. To-Do List: The current design requires further improvement.
