This Mustang model was specifically designed for the Discovery Channel's "Showdown Air Combat" series, boasting near-scale size and detailed texturing. It features an intricately modeled cockpit with seat, engine, cowlings, engine mounts, radio equipment, and a myriad of animated controls and instrument panels in the cockpit. Animated features include ailerons, flaps, rudder, elevators, main and tail landing gear and doors, and the cockpit canopy opens. Propellers are also animated. A later upgrade enhanced various modeled parts, improved wing textures, and added detailed elements to the cockpit like engine, oil reservoir, mounting arms, intake duct, fuel lines, and spark plugs. The removable cowling panels on either side reveal the engine, replicating real-life maintenance views. Landing gear features, spar, wing fuel tank, rear fuel tank in the fuselage, and a Fuselage Fuel Tank are also included, along with an impressive set of electrical equipment and radios behind the pilot's seat.
