The original Mustang model was developed for Discovery Channel's "Showdown Air Combat" and boasts near-scale construction with detailed textures. It features a meticulously modeled cockpit, engine, cowlings, engine mounts, seats, and radio equipment. The cockpit includes controls, instrument panels, numerous cranks, and switches. Animation is included for various features like ailerons, flaps, rudder, elevators, main and tail landing gear, doors, and the cockpit canopy. Propellers are also animated. A later upgrade enhanced modeled components, refined wing textures, and improved the detailed cockpit with additional features such as an engine, oil reservoir, mounting arms, mounts, oil cleaner intake duct, fuel lines, and spark plugs. The cowling panels on either side can be removed to reveal the engine, replicating real-life maintenance scenarios. Landing gear features were added, along with a spar, wing fuel tank, rear fuel tank in the fuselage, and a Fuselage Fuel Tank. Electrical equipment and radios are also modeled behind the pilot's seat, adding to the overall realism of this impressive aircraft model.
