I received responses so I'm reading this notice. I didn't create this model, and I uploaded it under the author's acceptance. The original creator doesn't have a Sketchfab account, so I decided to promote their work. Thank you for understanding. This aircraft is an adaptation of the P-36 (Curtiss Hawk 75) to the V12 liquid-cooled Allison V-1710 engine. They created it after the failure of the more ambitious P-37 project. The P-37 had a turbo supercharger that didn't work well. The P-40 used a simple, one-stage mechanical supercharger delivered by Allison with the engine. It wasn't as good as the two-stage supercharger in the British Merlin. Allison engineers created it as an additional stage after the turbo supercharger. Lockheed successfully used this configuration in the P-38 Lightning. Using this device alone, the Allison engine in the P-40 quickly lost its power above 15,000 ft. http://forurl.co/blendp40b
