I designed it to hold a DNA vial (13x41mm). You can get them from ebay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/174318421449). It's vital in humid climates, but if you live in a desert I guess you can get away with putting the log just inside the owl. Attach to a branch with zip ties (4mm wide).
