Owl Candle Mold
thingiverse
This mold can be used to cast an owl out of (bees)wax. Material required: - This printed mold - Something to clamp the mold together - Pot the heat the water - Container to melt the wax in - Something to measure the wax temperature - 200g of wax - About 10cm wick - Thread to secure the wick Steps: 1. Print the mold 2. Put the wick in the mold and secure it on the lower side of the mold (e.g. with a thread) 3. Clamp the mold together 4. Slowly heat the wax in a bain-marie until its fully melted 5. Make sure the wax is around 65°C 6. Cast the wax into the mold 7. As soon as the wax gets a bit colder, try to remove the thread used to secure the wax (or simply cut it). 8. During the cooling process, the wax will contract somewhat. Refill the bottom of the owl with some more wax. 9. Let the wax cool down for some hours (6-8 should be enough) 10. Put the mold in the fridge (not the freezer) and let it cool down for some more hours (I left it over night) 11. Carefully remove the mold, first the outer parts and then the middle ones. 12. Remove the excess wax on the bottom of the owl candle. 13. Enjoy your candle The mold can be reused.
