overture filament spool adapter
thingiverse
The last two Ender printers I've bought both came with the same spool holder, they're 30mm with a 36mm flange. The cardboard spools that Overture filament uses are much larger and they don't roll smoothly. I made this simple adapter rings that slip over the ender's 36mm flange and fit into the overture spools. It reduces the diameter of the spool and reduces the friction, so they don't chug as bad. It's just a flanged ring that fit into the spool, and an arbitrary OD so that they don't fall inside the spool. Print two of these, I did one in PLA+ and one in PETG, neither type made any difference in the results, although PETG seems to be much glossier and smoother. I've included a .3mf file for you (i use prusaslicer). I used the free Sketchup Make 2017 to draw it and included the file for that program for you .SKP I also included my ender3 .016mm layer height g-code file for PLA filament so you may use that as well--plug n play! it prints with a skirt loop and a brim that you'll need to trim. You may tune once you begin the print if you'd like to adjust the temp, speed (i print sloow), etc.
