Therefore, I'll keep this explanation brief. The center of the spool will have a hole with a rod going through it. Determine which top rod size is required - a big one or a small one. Most spools (90%) have holes measuring around 50mm in diameter, but some, such as Hatchbox, have smaller holes approximately 30mm in diameter. If the hole's diameter is less than 50mm but greater than or equal to 30mm, you need Small Top arm pair files. If the hole's diameter is greater than 50mm, use Big Top arm pair files. (This applies to most spools). 2nd - Determine what size arms are needed: Measure the full outer diameter of the spool from end to end by laying it flat. The links below will guide you to individual pages for accurate results: If the spool is less than or around 160mm in diameter, use Small sized arm files. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1001360 If the spool's diameter is greater than 160mm but less than or around 200mm, print Standard size arms.http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:943563 If your spool's diameter exceeds 200mm but remains under 270mm, print Oversized arms, suitable for large Makerbot spools. Checkpoint With the top rod and arm sizes identified, ensure that everything is in place.
