Overrun Clutch (Freewheel)
thingiverse
I was curious to see if it's feasible to craft and print a fully functional ratcheting freewheel mechanism, also known as an overrun clutch. So I came up with this design and it works exactly as planned. I included two different types of freewheels - one where the "arm" has a thickness of 0.8 mm and the other is thicker at 1.2 mm. This will give you a clear sense of how stiff the system responds when you adjust the thickness of the arm, while keeping all other parameters constant. Since it works as expected, I'll definitely include it in one of my upcoming projects. I hope you find this little innovation enjoyable and useful.
