Overheating Protection for Smartphone

For extended bike rides, I install my warbiking gear directly onto the bike. The Kismet server operates on a RasPi3 computer. A mobile phone serves as both navigation tool and graphical user interface for the RasPi3. The phone and RasPi3 connect via USB tethering - this results in the phone being constantly charged. However, with warmer days becoming more frequent, I've started to notice an issue: the smartphone, encased in a weatherproof holder, doesn't receive sufficient airflow and begins to overheat. But now, with my latest innovation, I'm optimistic that the smartphone will no longer display battery overheating warnings.
