I really love the Spool Holders designed by arghhh40k and have used them for quite some time already. But I decided to go overkill and make new ones because I recently learned about AUTODESK 123D Design software and wanted to give it a try. Fortunately, you can easily add fillets and chamfers in 123D which is amazing! I found out that I needed around 10 or so mm longer posts for the Sainsmart PET spool and other spools I've purchased. On these, I extended the post, added a long taper, and reduced all stress concentrations by rounding all corners that could experience any stress. Lastly, I added indented identification text of "Left Side Spool" and "Right Side Spool" just in case there's any question or if you're not sure which side the Rep G software (or the printer) identifies as left and right. Three files are uploaded; a file with both, and then one each for left and right if you would like to print them individually. These print successfully in PLA with no raft and no support using Replicator G. Do not go over 50° for the platform temp or you will see a lot of warp occur to the parts. Printer Settings Printer: FlashForge Creator Pro Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: Fine STL, .2mm thick layers Infill: 10% - 20% Notes: Less than 10% infill makes the parts that fit into the printer feel flimsy. Try using a platform temp of 95 deg C with ABS to reduce warpage vs. 110 C. Designing These Parts I used AUTODESK 123D Design to make these parts because it's an awesome tool. The nice thing about 123D Design is that it's free, which I appreciate greatly! Unlike Sketchup Make, it's easy to add rounds, fillets and chamfers in this software. You can also just lightly pull and push faces and edges to make more complex shapes, and the software actually works great doing these odd things without crashing - what a wonderful surprise!
