Outrigger 300mm Race Boat!
thingiverse
This boat is obsolete and deserves an upgrade. Please visit my page for version 6. Under construction? That's what makes it interesting! Eventually this boat will be completely made from 3D prints, starting with just the frame right now. Currently, I've only added a float model without power or equipment, making it solely dependent on floating. When this boat is completed, all it needs are electronics and accessories like props to make it fast, lightweight, and efficient. It's designed for racing and has room for up to 25x25mm outrunners between 2400-3200kv. For the best performance possible, it will be using the top-grade Horizon Hobby ProBoat components for the drive shaft, coupler, and prop. As a public design with an open-source license, I'm encouraging everyone to contribute by adding new designs, improving current features or submitting improvements on their builds! More information about this can be found at http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2231485. Don't forget to take some photos if you choose to 3D print it and send over feedback to make sure everyone gets a share in making this fast and enjoyable to build watercraft even better! To the users who will download, please ensure compatibility as I provided the pre-liminary 3d files to demonstrate how it would look. The files were originally saved under Boat Prelim_2.STL and uploaded as both original .STL files for demonstration of the future results. This file isn't supported, hence not downloading from this link is necessary. Additionally, both STL files, as well as pre-refined .stl, are found in the zip folder. Netfabb was used to correct and enhance certain features which some users prefer using over originals. However I'm confident with either version. Design Overview To print out my semi-dynamic watercraft design that incorporates modern tech is quite straightforward. Assuming all parts will need around 2-3 hours to print based on 15 layers and an effective printing speed of about 45mm/sec. Printing arms and afts using medium in-filling percentages provides good stability, strength support as it doesn't have weight or size issue as mentioned. This should provide desired quality while taking no significant damage when handling during printing. Assembly Overview
