When printing without rafts, adding an extrusion-based bounding box on the first layer can help. Nophead's method is a good example (http://hydraraptor.blogspot.com/2010/01/hot-metal-and-serendipity.html). This outline provides extra time for proper extrusion and early verification of the object's position on the platform. As a plugin, you can toggle it in your skeinforge profiles. To use this feature, choose the appropriate sfNN-outline.py version based on your Skeinforge version. Rename it to outline.py and follow the instructions in the file regarding placement and configuration. It works with makerbot gcode and may need updating for new skeinforge versions. If you update it yourself, send it to lenbok@gmail.com, or let him know if a newer version is needed. Note that Skeinforge 40 includes similar functionality through its "skirt" plugin.
